2024

Each year, over 1 billion animals are sacrificed for the leather trade worldwide. BrewLeather is an alternative bio-leather crafted from brewer’s spent grains (BSGs), that can be composted and repurposed as cattle feed at the end of its lifecycle. BSGs are the most abundant byproducts in beer productions. Globally, around 36.4 million tonnes of BSGs are generated annually, with 70% allocated for feed, 10% for biogas production, and 20% sadly ending up in landfills. BrewLeather seeks to prolong the lifecycle of the BSGs by transforming the landfilled fraction into valuable materials, meeting human needs while responsibly returning nutrients to the nature.
