Stroke impacts 1 in 6 people worldwide, with 20-30% developing foot drop. While treatments like surgery and electrical stimulation exist, motor control recovery often relies on intensive rehabilitation, requiring hundreds of repetitive motions daily. However, adherence is low, with only 31% of patients following home exercise regimens. These treatments also fail to sufficiently stimulate the brain's cognitive coordination, which is key to faster recovery.
Therefore, I developed a wearable device integrated with an endless runner game for foot drop rehabilitation, focusing on making the process more engaging, dignified, trackable for therapists, and still effective in strengthening muscles.
